The Electrical Engineer / PLC Programmer is responsible for the design, programming, and implementation of electrical and control systems for Safe Air Technology’s explosion-proof and mission-critical HVAC systems. This position requires strong technical knowledge of HVAC controls, PLC logic, and hazardous environment compliance. The role supports both new product design and existing system modifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and program PLC systems from concept to completion.
• Create and modify electrical power and control circuit designs (AC/DC).
• Design and implement HVAC sequences of operation tailored for custom HVAC systems, including uses for ordinary and hazardous locations, and system types including fixed speed DX, VRV, chilled water, and steam heating units.
• Develop, test, and commission PLC and HMI systems for custom HVAC solutions.
• Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT).
• Troubleshoot and optimize control systems during installation and after commissioning.
• Prepare engineering drawings, submittal data, and supporting documentation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, manufacturing, and field service teams to ensure design alignment.
• Maintain detailed records of projects, revisions, and control logic changes.
• Provide technical support and training to internal teams as needed.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering (BSEE or BSME required).
• Minimum of 3–5 years of related experience in HVAC, controls, or industrial manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of:
  • ASHRAE standards and NEC requirements.
  • Electrical and mechanical codes for hazardous areas.
  • NFPA 496, IEC, and ATEX standards.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell Automation platforms and Connected Components Workbench preferred.
• Experience with Solidworks Electrical preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Office and shop environment with occasional exposure to industrial noise and conditions.
• Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
• Occasional travel may be required for on-site testing and support.
