Position Overview

Performs a variety of supportive and direct patient care functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse and receives a written and/or oral assignment and direction. Responsible for transporting patients safely and efficiently throughout the facility. Communicates/collaborates with care team members to provide coordinated, safe and compassionate care for patients.

Essential Functions

• Transports patients safely and efficiently throughout the facility.
• Identifies patients by checking identity information and medical charts to ensure the correct patient is brought to the correct area.
• Communicates effectively to patient the purpose and method of transfer using transfer equipment.
• Self-tests transport equipment to ensure safe handling and safe function. Removes faulty or defective equipment from service.
• Utilizes the proper transfer techniques to ensure patient safety following CH guidelines and procedures.
• Assists with admission, transfer or discharge of patients.
• Seeks to improve the effectiveness of communication and interactions with others.
• Performs inventory supply assessment on a regular schedule. Assures items are placed in their correct location and rotates inventory to avoid expired or incorrect picks of supplies. Out of date supplies are removed from inventory.
• Observes patients carefully for significant changes as needed.
• Documents observations and activities of observed patients on appropriate records and documents. Reports findings to RN.

Minimum Requirements

• Education: High school diploma or equivalency.
• Experience: None required.
• Other Credentials: AHA Heartsaver AED
• Knowledge and Skills: Proficient in English and verbal and written communication skills.

• Frequent physical demands include: Sitting, Standing, Walking, Climbing (e.g., stairs or ladders), Carry objects, Push/Pull, Twisting, Bending, Reaching forward, Reaching overhead, Squat/kneel/crawl, Wrist position deviation, Pinching/fine motor activities, Keyboard use/repetitive motion
