Construction Estimator / Project Manager
Your Role
As a Construction Estimator/Project Manager at ICG, you'll be a pivotal part of our project lifecycle, from initial concept to successful completion. You'll leverage your expertise to accurately bid on diverse projects (both directly for clients and as a subcontractor for other GCs) and then meticulously manage them to ensure they're delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Responsibilities
Estimating
Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and other documentation for a wide range of projects, including:
Demolition: Site, interior, and building demolition.
Concrete Work: Hardscapes, curbs, site walls, driveways, walkways, and stamped concrete.
Grading: General grading and house pads.
Underground Utilities: Water, gas, electrical/communication conduits, storm drain, and sewer.
Masonry: Stone walls and stone curbs.
Other Services: Septic tanks, storm drain basins, permeable driveways, and confined space projects.
Conduct detailed quantity take-offs for all scopes of work.
Solicit, analyze, and negotiate bids from subcontractors and suppliers.
Prepare comprehensive cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracts, for both direct client projects and bids submitted to other general contractors.
Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities related to project costs.
Prepare and present proposals to clients and, when acting as a subcontractor, to general contractors.
Project Management
Plan, execute, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget.
Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.
Ensure all projects are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget.
Define project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
Develop detailed project plans to monitor and track progress.
Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques.
Report and escalate to management as needed.
Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and quality standards.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and field crews.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field, OR equivalent extensive work experience.
5+ years of combined experience in construction estimating and project management, with a strong portfolio across multiple project types (demolition, concrete, grading, utilities, masonry).
Proven ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, specifications, and contract documents for diverse construction projects.
In-depth knowledge of construction means, methods, materials, and safety regulations.
Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, AccuBid, etc.) and project management software, along with strong skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project).
Exceptional analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively manage teams and build relationships with clients, stakeholders and general contractors.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail.
Valid California driver's license and reliable transportation.
Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, general contractors (when acting as a subcontractor), subcontractors, and field crews.
