High school diploma or equivalent
Bachelor's Degree or some college
Experience (minimum amount of years; type/field):
Prior experience as Medical Interpreter
Prefer 2 plus years of experience as a Medical Interpreter
Credentials Legal Compliance (licenses & certifications):
Oral proficiency Oral proficiency Interview (OPI) or Interpreter Readiness Assessment demonstrating competency in English and target language required to perform interpretation responsibilities at a competent level.
Certificate in Medical Terminology Interpreting Training, Bridging the Gap. (40 hours of Training in Medical Interpreting).
Certificate in Medical Terminology Interpreting Training
Certified Healthcare Interpreter
Certification Commission for Healthcare Interpreters
Skills (technology; machinery; communication):
Verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish to talk with a patient, family member, hospital staff and community members.
Basic typing / computer skills required.
Ability to learn and use additional software programs as needed.
Flexibility to travel to all entities of the hospital.
Special Characteristics (travel; significant physical demands and working conditions):
Age specific education
Knowledge of abuse/neglect
Understanding/Knowledge of culture competency
