Summary

The Counselor provides non-judgmental, trauma-informed counseling and support to individuals facing reproductive decisions. This role focuses on offering emotional support, education, and referrals to community and social services to ensure clients receive the care and guidance they need. Counselors play a vital role in fostering a safe and supportive environment for those seeking assistance.

Key Responsibilities

Direct Client Support

● Provide confidential, unbiased, and empathetic counseling to individuals exploring reproductive healthcare options.

● Assist clients in understanding their options and accessing relevant community resources .

● Utilize active listening and trauma-informed care techniques to support client well-being.

● Follow ethical guidelines and maintain strict client confidentiality.

Educational & Resource Guidance

● Coordinate care and provide case management support by referring clients to housing, healthcare, and financial assistance resources as needed.

● Stay informed on current reproductive health policies and local resources to provide accurate information.

● Assist with educational workshops and outreach programs as needed.

Collaboration & Training

● Work closely with other counselors and administrative staff to ensure comprehensive client care .

● Document sessions and report client interactions following organizational policies.

● Participate in ongoing training and supervision as needed.

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Social Work, Human Development & Family Studies, or similar discipline

● Candidates must hold an active LSW, LCSW, LCP, or similar license in Texas, New Mexico, or Colorado (TX, NM, CO)

● Prior experience in reproductive health or related fields preferred.

● Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and client-centered counseling .

● Excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.

● Commitment to confidentiality and ethical client care .

● Passion for reproductive justice and community support .

● Must be able to conduct sessions in Spanish and document in English or Spanish, depending on client needs.

● Expected workload is approximately 10 hours per week (with flexibility based on client needs)
