Job Description The BDO Alliance Azure Data Engineer is responsible for supporting the BDO Alliance Team and all 400+ Alliance Firms. The role focuses on Azure infrastructure and data‑engineering solutions, working closely with customers, stakeholders and the core IT Digital Assets team. The successful candidate will operate in a dynamic environment under the direction of the Alliance Director. Job Summary The Azure Data Engineer leads the design, development, and implementation of the Alliance program’s Data Lake, supporting over 25,000 users. The engineer identifies and implements value‑added digital solutions, designing data ingestion strategies, data warehousing, semantic layers, visualizations, streaming processes, API integrations and automation solutions that run on Azure, AWS and other cloud analytics platforms. Responsibilities Lead the design, development and implementation of the Alliance program’s Data Lake. Work collaboratively with the Alliance team, customers and stakeholders to deliver digital solutions aligned with business requirements. Design and implement best‑in‑class data ingestion, warehousing, mart, semantic layer, and visualisation strategies. Develop and maintain streaming processes, API integrations and RPA solutions. Write code in multiple languages, applying frameworks, architecture patterns and development principles. Optimize performance, ensure SLA compliance and manage end‑to‑end solution tuning. Implement data governance programs and best practices. Transform and model source data for analytics use. Implement and support DevOps and DataOps practices across projects. Provide clear, frequent reporting to management. Assist with project planning and management as needed. Participate in special projects to enhance the Alliance Program. Attend Alliance team meetings and the annual Alliance Conference. Work closely with BDO IT and BDO Digital teams. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities High School Diploma or GED (required). Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science or Computer Science (preferred). Prior experience working on Azure infrastructure (required). Five (5) or more years of experience with Data Infrastructure and Applications (required). Experience with Data Warehousing, Modeling, Semantic Models and Star Schema construction (required). Hands‑on delivery of end‑to‑end cloud data analytics solutions in Azure (required). Experience with Synapse and Serverless Views (preferred). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Python (required). Experience with C#, GIT/DevOps, Linux, Power BI or other data‑modeling tools (preferred). Strong verbal and written communication skills. Analytical mindset, problem‑solving ability and customer‑service orientation. Capacity to manage multiple projects in a deadline‑driven environment. Strong collaboration and team‑first attitude.
