This person will be responsible for providing strategic direction, managing client relationships, and overseeing complex litigation cases within the utilities sector.We are open to hiring this person for our Washington, DC office, our Marlborough, Massachusetts headquarters, or remotely across the United States.Responsibilities:Provide expert guidance and strategic support to clients in the utility sector facing civil litigation and other legal challengesAnalyze complex legal issues, develop case strategies, and offer valuable insight to help clients navigate legal proceedings successfullyConduct in-depth legal research and analysis related to utilities facing civil litigation mattersProvide oversight, manage and execute deliverables for client engagement projects for utilities and other client typesDevelop and implement effective case strategies to achieve favorable outcomes for clientsCollaborate with attorneys, legal teams and other experts to help strengthen client deliverables and outcomesProvide expert witness testimony and analysis when requiredStay updated on relevant laws, regulations, and industry trends impacting utilities litigationBuild and maintain strong client relationships through exceptional service and communicationIdentify and pursue new business opportunities within the utilities sectorFrequently evaluate the performance of existing offerings, recommending adjustments or enhancements to optimize consulting market shareParticipate in networking events, conferences, and industry associations to promote the firm’s servicesMentor and coach junior consultants, providing guidance and support to help them grow and develop professionallyRequirements:Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Economics, Math, Finance, Business Administration, Law/Legal, or Political ScienceJuris Doctor (JD), Master’s Degree, MBA or PhD preferred10+ years’ experience in the energy utility space, either at a consulting firm, a utility, a public utilities commission, a Big 4 Accounting firm, an energy-focused law firm or similar organizationsProven ability to generate consulting services sales and direct team-based business development tasksProven experience in leading the ideation, design, and implementation of new service offeringsExperience writing or providing expert witness testimony for utility rate cases or other utility regulatory proceedingsVery strong communication and presentation skills, including Microsoft Office suiteMust be able to present complex ideas and strategies to utility leadershipRequires occasional travel to client sites and regulatory hearings, typically throughout the US and CanadaDepending on the level hired, the base salary for this role will typically start at $200,000 plus annual incentive compensation bonus.We are looking for employees who are collegial and collaborative, enjoy working in a team environment, and have the ability to also operate independently.
